• COFFEE SACKS SERIES — Eight unique, woven pieces steeped in history. These works originate on authentic coffee sacks (from Colombia, Vietnam, Nicaragua, and elsewhere)—raw jute, marked by travel and human hands—which serve as both a canvas and a repository of memory for images exploring voice, identity, and emotion.
• In this group of eigt pieces, (Until now) I have employed a muted, earthy palette punctuated by sudden bursts of color. The texture of the jute demands a different approach to painting: layers of acrylic, oil pastel, and ink settle and glide between the fibers, as if every stroke honors the material's prior history. The result is a symbiosis between the resilient (the sack) and the vulnerable (faces, gestures, figures in transit). The works engage with the concept of displacement: beans transported from one continent to another; memories carried from one face to the next.
• The series suggests an intimate, surreal journey: bodies emerging from the weave, bold lips challenging the silence, and superimposed faces narrating internal conflicts. Each piece retains the patina of its origins—stamps, stitching, and imperfections—acting as traces of provenance and authenticity.
